It's just innocent fun.

"Jas, this really isn't funny. We shouldn't be doing this," Marissa said worryingly to her friend Jasmine.

"Would you just lighten up a little bit? You never have any fun anymore. What happened to you?" she asked questioningly. "You used to never say no to anything. You were always down to do something adrenaline pumping. Now you're scared of everything and I don't like it," Jasmine said as she put her hands on her hips defiantly. Jasmine set the board down on the hard wood floor and pushed her brown hair out of her eyes. There was an inch of dust on top of the board, so she sucked in a deep breath and blew away it all away.

"I'm not asking again, Marissa. Are you playing or not?" Hesitantly, Marissa stepped forward, staring at the brown and black board on the cold floor. Her heart kept skipping beats, and her hands began to sweat. What was she suppose to say? If she says no, she potentially loses her best friend. If she says yes, so many bad things could happen to not only her but also Jasmine. Marissa took a deep breath, and exhaled.

"Okay," she said. "But if things go bad, we immediately stop playing and never touch it again. Agreed?" She looked at Jasmine, looking for reassurance deep within her friend's eyes. There was none.

"It's just innocent fun, Marissa. Nothing bad is going to happen. Stop being such a party-pooper and live a little." Jasmine rolled her eyes and slammed her olive-toned hand against the cold wood. "Sit down and play," she demanded. Marissa sat down reluctantly, putting her burgundy hair into a ponytail, and stared down at the black letters written on the board. There was so much detail in this board, but also so much was at risk. What DID happen to the old her? She was always ready to get into trouble, always ready to break the law. She shook the thought from her mind and placed her fingers on the planchette.

"Is there anybody here with us at this time?" Jasmine asked no one in particular. After a few moments, Jasmine got impatient. "This isn't working," she sighed. "I said, is there anybody here with us right now?" she asked once again. Without a moments pause, the planchette began to slowly and steadily move to the yes. Jasmine's eyes grew wide. She looked over at Marissa as if to question whether she was pranking her. Marissa's breathing stopped immediately and her hands turned to ice. This was a mistake. This was a bad idea, and it's her fault for joining. Her gaze never moved from the planchette. What she was seeing, and feeling was real. There was a force pushing the planchette to the yes, but it was neither her or Jasmine doing it.

"Jasmine... We need to stop," Marissa said, voice cracking.

"No. We need to find out who this is," Jasmine said, with confidence. "I wanna know who this is."

"Jasmine, no. This is gonna go bad, and you know it. Stop while you're ahead!" Marissa exclaimed.

"Don't tell me what to do, Marissa. If you didn't wanna play, you didn't have to. You wanted to play, so now you are stuck here until it's over. That was your choice, not mine. I am finding out who this is whether you like it or not, now shut up and let me ask it more questions!" Jasmine shouted with built up rage that Marissa has never seen before. SHE was the one who changed, not her, Marissa figured out. She has changed, and doesn't even realize it. She has gotten more malicious.

"Who are you?" Jasmine asked, passion and power glinting in her dark, sunken eyes. She is getting worse. This has to end, Marissa thought to herself. The planchette started to move again. This time towards the letters.

"A. E. S. H. M. A" Jasmine read aloud. That was it, Marissa had to do something. She grabbed the planchette and threw it into the fire behind Jasmine. Without a warning, Jasmine's eyes widened and her face grew angry. She sucked in a breath, ready to say something. Then the lights went out and it went eerily quiet. Marissa tried to look towards the fire for some light but it had also gone out.

"Jasmine? Are you okay? What happened?" Marissa asked but there was no reply. "Jas, I am sorry for doing that. I had to do something, it was getting out of control. Where did you go?" She extended her arms, hoping to grab onto her shirt for reassurance. There she was, Marissa could feel the fabric of her shirt. She exhaled with relief. The lights flickered back on and Marissa's eyes widened along with her mouth. She left out a blood curdling scream at what she was witnessing.

Jasmine's body was right in front of hers but there was something horribly wrong with her.

"Jas, oh my god. How did that happen? That isn't possible. Oh my god!" Marissa screamed. She scooted away from her friend, terrified with tears rolling down her face. The fire glinted from Marissa's eyes as she looked at her best friend.

Her mouth was sewn shut along with her chopped off ears.
