I was woken up by light. I couldn’t see anything. All I could see was this white light around me. I was barely able to keep my eyes open. The light was so bright, it hurt my eyes. I had to keep them shielded.
“Babe, move over please. You’re on my side.”
“Huh? Steve? What time is it? Can you turn off the light, please? It’s hurting my eyes.”
“It’s 11:30. I just got home from work. Move over to your side.”
As I continue to lay there, I hear Steve move out of the room and make his way down the hall to the restroom. Still shielding my eyes, I manage to move over to my side of the bed. I hear Steve enter our room and turn on the table lamp on his side of the bed and flick the switch off for our ceiling light.
“Do your eyes feel better, Jane?”
“Oh, a lot better now that the lights are off. I still think those lights are too bright.”
Steve gives me a frown as he curls up in bed next to me.
“Okay, grumpy. Tomorrow morning we can go get different light bulbs. Ones that won’t hurt your sensitive eyes.”
I give him a cheesy smile as he leans in to give me a kiss.
“I don’t know about you, Jane, but I’m ready to call it a night. Work absolutely killed me today.”
“I can’t sleep anymore. You woke me up, but still, turn off the light. Maybe if I just lay here, my body will get tired and I’ll just knock out.”
Steve looks at me, chuckling.
“Good night, Jane. I love you.”
“Good night, Steve. Love you, too.”
He clicks off the table lamp and everything goes completely dark. It takes a few seconds for my eyes to adjust, but soon enough I’m able to see the shadows of our room. I look over and see Steve completely passed out. He wasn’t playing around when he said work killed him. I continue to lay there just staring at the ceiling, letting my thoughts take me away, hoping it’ll tire out my mind and I can just fall asleep.
A few minutes go by and my eyelids start to become heavy, making it hard for me to keep them open. Even though I am dead tired, I keep fighting it, trying to keep my eyes opened. After being unsuccessful, I let my eyes close and relax my body. Almost immediately, I start to feel a tingling sensation through my body, and it becomes very heavy. With my eyes still closed, I can hear someone or something moving throughout the room. My stomach sinks and my heart begins to beat fast, for I know it isn’t Steve. I can feel him laying right next to me. I shoot open my eyes, and there it is... a very tall, black creature standing in the corner of the room, watching me and Steve lay in our bed. My heart completely sinks into my stomach. I am extremely terrified. I don’t wanna move because this creature is just watching me, watching Steve. I try to move my head to look around the room, but I can’t. It’s like my head is strapped down or someone is holding me down. I start freaking out, realizing I can’t move my body at all, only my eyes. I try to yell to wake Steve up, but when I open my mouth, nothing comes out. Complete silence. The only thing I can hear is my heart pounding against my chest. I feel like I am going to die. Whatever that creature is, it has complete control over me. It stands there in the corner just watching me. It looks to be about six feet tall and is very dark—almost black. It looks evil. It is staring at me with red, piercing eyes, and has horns on its head to contribute to its demonic look.
The creature begins to move. It takes a step away from the corner, now standing a little closer to the bed. I watch it examine Steve, looking at him up and down. It takes a couple steps closer to get a better look at Steve, putting it’s face right up in Steve’s face and taking a good sniff. It then shoots straight up and turns its head towards me, staring me down, looking straight into my eyes. It feels like he is staring into my soul. It then makes its way around the bed and stands over me. The creature starts examining me, looking at me up and down like if he was looking for something on me. He lowers his head to get a better look. I hear him sniffing me, taking in my scent. He stands straight up looks at me and smiles, revealing his huge razor sharp teeth. He then leans in close to me and caresses my face with his hands.
“You’re perfect. You’re everything I’ve been looking for. You’re the perfect body I can rest in and take as my own. Oh, but don’t worry, my child. I’ll send your soul to my good friend Satan. He’s been expecting you. We all have. You knew this day was coming, but I’m sure you didn’t expect it so soon. Oh, but don’t worry, I’ll try to make this as painless as I can. I just need you to stay still and quiet. The devil is on his way to take your soul down to hell. May you suffer, burn, and perish like the others in the land of fire.”
