The Remake Machine Fires Out Another 'Day of the Dead' Movie

Another day, another remake, and in this case it's our beloved Romero classic on the chopping block.

The World as we know it is finished

Another Day another remake, and in this case it's our beloved Romero classic on the chopping block...again!!. Fans of George .A. Romero's 1985 masterpiece, Day of The Dead, shouldn't be too surprised about news on a remake as the movie has already been rebooted in a somewhat disastrous blight on the brand.

The original Day of the Dead had great social commentary set against the post apocalyptic backdrop of a zombie infested world, where humans were in the minority. The 2008 "remake" (which was meant to be a follow up to the Dawn of the Dead remake in 2004) had an extremely poor script and had zombies that could drive cars, jump like superhero's and climb along walls.

Unless you've never saw a zombie film before i think you'll agree that's not the makings of a good zombie tale.

What do you mean this IS the script?

In fact there was an even bigger insult in the way of an unrelated sequel Day of the Dead 2: Contagion. This was from the same production company that released the God awful Creepshow 3 and quite frankly they should have had their 'Movie-Making' privileges revoked permanently. This further damaged the brand and was an insult to hardcore Romero fans.

Someone shoot these filmmakers please....

But I'll let the bile subside on that debate (for now) and discuss this new project.

Now Nu Image/Millennium production company have got the rights for the title, so they're fixing to use them. The "Corpse of Anna Fritz‘s" Director Hèctor Hernández Vicens will be helming this latest instalment in the dead series. Although it sounds like it will have little to do with the original movie

Plot details are a little slim, but here's the blurb:

"In a post-apocalyptic world we Follows a former medical student tormented by a dark figure from her past. This "person" is a half-human, half-zombie hell-bent on destroying her life"

There's not much to go on here but I think you'll agree it bears little resemblance to Romero's work, which is a good thing but why not just call it something else?. Casting is currently underway, no news on a possible release date but i'd say expect it sometime in 2017....

Let's hope no one 'Chokes-on-em' in the meantime......
