SPOILER ALERT

We now have our first glimpse into Season 7 of The Walking Dead (TWD) with the first teaser trailer premiering at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), and it's a doozy. There's still no indication of who Negan killed during the Season 6 Finale, but there's more past what Negan has done, it actually seems like the focus of Season 7 is on what Negan is about to do in the world of The Walking Dead rather than what he's done in the past.

Negan's home of 'The Sanctuary'.

After viewing the trailer, it appears as though Season 7 of The Walking Dead is going to explore Negan's world at length. That aspect isn't clear cut in the trailer, but all of split second images of Negan's compound are hinting at Season 7 devoting a lot of time to the Savior's compound and those who lie within. The Savior's compound is famously known as The Sanctuary in the comic-book medium of the series. Not to confuse anyone with the Sanctuary depicted in Season 4 of The Walking Dead. Both compounds share the same name but hold completely different outlooks. That's not to say both compounds didn't share a similar knack for brutality and violence.

As far as the Savior's compound of the Sanctuary goes, it's unknown to us right now. But from all the images of Dwight and Negan alongside the Saviors in the Season 7 trailer, we can see that Negan and Dwight won't be the only Saviors featured in the upcoming season of The Walking Dead. Also implying that the people of the Sanctuary will become featured characters on (TWD) throughout Season 7. But what's most interesting is that the introduction of the entire group of Saviors may bring with it the sense of humanity back to a group that has been looked at as savages by the core group of survivors we've grown to love.

Placing focus on the Saviors' community will allow fans to see the humanity of their group, while at the same time acknowledging that the Saviors are a group of survivors just like the Alexandrians and the Hilltop Colony; just a bit more savage in nature. But the Sanctuary won't be the only community introduced during Season 7 of The Walking Dead.

Can't forget about 'The Kingdom' of King Ezekiel

Season 6 of The Walking Dead did an excellent job of teasing the arrival of another well known community from The Walking Dead comics, the Kingdom. During the season finale, Morgan ran into two members of the Kingdom while on a search for help, after Carol had been shot numerous times. Their confrontation resulted in the two soldiers from the Kingdom welcoming Carol and Morgan into their community to receive help for their injuries. That was the last we saw of Carol and Morgan during the Season 6 Finale. At the time, we didn't know exactly where Carol and Morgan were going but now we can confirm they're going to the Kingdom in Season 7. Ezekiel's announcement at the end of the trailer just provided us with all the proof we need to safely confirm the Kingdom being a prominent element utilized in Season 7. And we can't forget about Shiva.

Shiva has made it to The Walking Dead television series!

Fans of The Walking Dead comics weren't expecting Shiva to make it to The Walking Dead television series but fan expectation has been satiated. Most assumed that Shiva wouldn't be able to exist in a believable medium, but it appears that Shiva will exist on The Walking Dead television series as CGI creation. As to how much time will be devoted to Shiva is up for debate. The cost of the CGI work on Shiva must be quite costly which probably means that Shiva will be saved for particular occasions or Shiva will meet an early demise in order to minimize the time Shiva is needed on-screen. But despite the vague nature of Shiva on The Walking Dead, it's still going to be quite entertaining to see a tiger tear open some zombies on (TWD).

Cast of The Walking Dead will grow substantially during Season 7

Going back to both the Kingdom and the Sanctuary being explored in-depth during Season 7. A large addition of new cast members joining the featured cast of (TWD) are survivors from the Kingdom and Sanctuary, and with the introduction of these new communities, new stories will expand out from the core plot line of the series.

The group of known characters on (TWD) have been shrinking substantially every season, and it seems like now is an appropriate time to expand the cast rankings to ambitious horizons. Along with a whole plethora of characters joining the cast of (TWD), it'll be possible for the series to expand into unexplored territories which include areas holding rich environments for potential spin-off series to develop. And with so many different avenues being explored during Season 7, the scale of The Walking Dead's story is going to expand up to unbelievable heights.

Negan inside the Sanctuary

Other than the reveal of the Kingdom and the Sanctuary in the Season 7 trailer, not much else was heavily emphasized. Although, the impression on Dwight's face in several of the split-second screenshots of him gave the impression that his character is leading towards the comic-book counterpart of Dwight within The Walking Dead comics. In The Walking Dead comics, Dwight is originally a member of Negan's group but he eventually turns on Negan to help Rick's group stop him. It's possible that Dwight's on-screen depiction will attempt to atone for his past sins just as his comic-book counterpart has done in the past, but will it be possible for everyone else to forgive Dwight? We'll find out when Season 7 of The Walking Dead premieres in October.

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres October 23, 2016. Starring Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohan, Sonequa Martin-Green, Norman Reedus, Stephen Yeun, Michael Cudlitz, and Josh McDermitt
